Today, we’re making CampusPress even better by adding a new “Cloner” tool that brings with it powerful staging and testing environments needed for high profile sites and projects.
Cloning can be useful for:
- moving a site to a new URL
- setting up staging/testing environments
- creating multiple sites from one template
- keeping backup copies of important sites
How It Works
Super Administrators will find a new ‘Clone’ link when visiting Sites > All Sites in the Network Admin.
It is as simple as clicking ‘Clone’ and choosing a new URL.
All content, images, settings, plugins, options, and widgets will be copied over to the new site instantly!
Staging and Testing
One of the most powerful features of the new “Clone” tool is that you can also overwrite existing sites on the network.
This means that you can make a clone of an existing site, make changes on the cloned version, and then clone again back over the original.
Setting up a staging site on the network can be perfect for testing theme changes or updates to sites without having to make these changes on the live site.
New Blog Templates Tool Too!
We’ve made improvements to the New Blog Templates tool which is available on CampusPress networks too.
See an overview of what New Blog Templates can do in the quick video above.
You’ll now find that it brings even more settings and options over such as featured images and options from more plugins. Plus, it is now faster and easier to setup too!
New Blog Templates are a great way to give students and teachers a starting point when they create new sites. Schools that are using CampusPress for e-Portfolios particularly love this!
We have more on the way, so stay tuned, and let us know if we can be of any help.
